New pedestrian safety video starring local faces and places!

October is International Walk to School Month, so it feels like a fitting time to release our first blog post with a very exciting announcement!

That’s right – Walk ‘N Roll Timiskaming has launched a new bilingual video series! Our goal with Pedestrian Safety 101 was to create a video to help teach elementary students some tips and rules for a safe walk to school. Check out the video in French or English and follow along with five local 5th graders as they demonstrate how to be a safe pedestrian.

We encourage parents to watch these videos with their children and to practice safe pedestrian skills together. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate this video in their pedestrian safety lessons. For lesson plan ideas, contact us at walknroll@timiskaminghu.com

Thank you to everyone who supported the creation of Walk ‘N Roll’s video series! Keep an eye out for our cycling safety videos which will be launched this Spring. Thank you to Ontario Active School Travel for funding this project, our Regional Steering Committee for providing feedback on video drafts, Good Gauley Productions for their expert filming and editing skills, and an extra-special thanks to the local elementary school students who made their acting debut in this video!
